Quantity Surveyor

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with preparation of estimates for all projects;

  • Assist with program preparation and ensure estimate and program are co-ordinated;

  • Carry out necessary contract administration such as applying for payment, variations, contract correspondence etc;

  • Prepare budgets to build and cash flow forecasts for projects prior to starting on site.;

  • Monitor and update programs on projects alongside updating expected final costs and margins as projects progress based on actual progress from site;

  • Working with Project Manager, Construction Manager and Project Engineers and by carrying out site visits, gain an understanding of what is happening on site and how this relates to the commercials;

  • With help from Project team write sub-contract scope and prepare tender documents for sub-contracts;

  • Manager tender process for sub-contracts;

  • Commercially manage sub-contracts through to final account;

  • Gather cost information from ongoing projects to be used in estimating future projects;

  • Be willing to visit site and get involved with the detail of how work has to be priced to identify variances;

  • Be willing to undertake estimating work as well as post contract QS work;

  • Analyse how work is carried out to identify better ways to increase efficiency.

Construction:
  • Perform interim valuations;

  • Evaluate variations;

  • Control changes;

  • Update cash flows;

  • Report financial progress;

  • Manage claims and negotiations;

  • Ensure that contract documents are signed and sealed;

  • Cost control.

Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years Quantity Surveying/Contracts ;

  • Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent qualification in business;

  • Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and acceptance work processes;

  • Strong analytical skills and oral and written communication skills;

  • Commercial and financial awareness.
