Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Key responsibilities:
  • To ensure the company’s Health and Safety Policy is implemented consistently across the organisation;

  • To monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety policy and practice, make recommendations and implement new policies and procedures as required;

  • To assist in the identification of training needs for employees and to develop and deliver training as required;

  • To advise the Board and the senior management team on the implications of current and emerging health, safety and welfare legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations and generating action plans to ensure compliance across the organisation;

  • To support managers in maintaining safety systems, providing specialized advice, coaching and practical support;

  • To assist managers in the implementation of health and safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and related legislation in a consistent and effective manner;

  • To carry out audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety systems and procedures, and to identify and implement improvements;

  • To ensure routine health and safety activities and checks are carried out, e.g. testing of portable electrical appliances and periodic review of risks assessment;

  • To investigate, or where appropriate, to assist others in investigating the circumstances and causes of accidents, and to take the necessary steps to prevent recurrences;

  • To take action to mitigate the impact and likelihood of health and safety risks;

  • To monitor the services provided to external clients to ensure that the team responds proactively to programme constraints;

  • To co-ordinate the issuing of notifications to the Health and Safety authorities, when required;

  • To oversee the preparation, maintenance and distribution of Health and Safety files;

  • To prepare regular reports on compliance and activity for presentation to senior management.

Requirements:
  • Master’s degree (technical, environmental) is required;

  • At least 3 years of experience on a similar position in a production companyAt least 3 years of experience on a similar position in a production company;

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and best practices is a must;

  • Fluency in English;

  • MS Office skills – advanced level (especially MS Excel);

  • Good managerial skills, analytical and conceptual thinking, business awareness.
